British American Tobacco required a large scale, Cisco-compatible video conferencing system in a boardroom environment. The Visavvi team exceeded requirements by integrating their own TP control software with cutting edge equipment from the leading AV/IT manufacturers.
The system has been developed and refined by a Visavvi team working with AMX and Cisco. We also worked closely with the architect to integrate the solution seamlessly into the refurbishment of the boardroom, including advising on lighting, acoustic properties and camera angles.
VC display is via three 70” Sharp LED displays, each able to display both near and far end video images as well as data from a PC / MAC or laptop, with an HD camera mounted above each screen. The system is completely configurable based upon the inputs and video call or display requirements. The system also caters for two presentation modes, being able to display data or images from PC / MAC and/or a laptop and iPads via the Sharp LED screens – on one or two screens or on all three. When video conferencing is not required, a ceiling recessed Christie projector can be lowered for projection onto a 300cm motorised ceiling screen.
The boardroom table surface houses twelve support screens mounted on lift mechanisms, which rise into position when required.
The audio element comprises desk mounted Beyerdynamic boundary microphones plus a gooseneck microphone at the lectern. A Biamp AudioFlex digital signal processing system provides acoustic echo cancellation and routing of the signal to far end and local speakers. Flush-mount speakers are fitted above each monitor, with speakers in the curved ceiling using adjustable tweeters to help ‘steer’ the audio to the listener - plus an induction loop audio system for the benefit of hearing aid users.
All elements designed to be operated via AMX Enova Digital Media Switchers providing the most reliable, end-to-end analogue plus digital audio and video distribution solution available.
The boardroom now provides an intuitive, easy to use full telepresence solution with the highest levels of video and audio performance. Seating up to 24, the ‘teleflexible’ room enables seamless and direct access to all BAT’s global telepresence suites. The unique Visavvi solution results in a genuinely multi-purpose collaboration and meeting room. It adds the capability to make calls to a greater number of hardware configurations and offers significant savings in capital investment.
