ISE 2019 continues to deliver for Visavvi with the news today of yet another award, this time from the Crestron EMEA Awards. Colin Etchells, Group Technical Director, along with members of the Visavvi team were on hand to receive the Best Education Project award for our work with the University of the West of Scotland on the new Hamilton campus.
Representing a radical shift in how modern pedagogy is defined in the higher education sector, the brand-new, £110m ultra-modern UWS campus in Lanarkshire offers a truly innovative, dynamic and collaborative student experience. Featuring over 100 DM NVX units this largest single Higher Education deployment of Crestron NVX in Europe, perfectly showcases the art of the possible with AV over IP.
Large format displays, video walls and projection technology support multiple huddle spaces, inventive, collaborative learning environments, auditoria and social areas across the entire campus, all receive content and control from Crestron NVX technology, delivering a truly flexible collaboration campus of the future.
As a totally collaborative focussed environment, both lecturers and students benefit from the full flexibility offered by the Crestron DM NVX deployment. Content can be delivered and received anywhere across this digital campus in a scalable, truly flexible way. The solution completely delivers on the University’s core objective to create an inspirational, innovative and flexible 21st century campus, focused on student-centred personalised learning.
The wide array of state-of-the-art technology presented in a realistic working environment drives student engagement, promoting more time on campus – facility usage has increased by 50% - and uniquely prepares students for working in the modern business world.
Commenting on the Award Colin explained “With 65 learning spaces plus ad hoc social collaboration environments and further rooms being added during the build, this was an exciting yet challenging project from the start. Our team worked extremely hard liaising with the University ICT team and Crestron to ensure the NVX solution and all the AV technologies could be deployed seamlessly within the time constraints of the install. This Award is the result of highly successful teamwork and I am extremely proud of our technical team who have delivered beyond client expectations.“
This flexible user-focused installation has allowed the University to achieve its ethos of dreaming, believing and achieving. And with its technology-rich, innovative learning and social spaces, UWS Lanarkshire is at the forefront of modern learning environments.Full case study
