Head of Systems Integration, Visavvi
InfoComm 2019 is now officially over for the Visavvi Team, and what a show it has been! We saw some amazing technology and are looking forward to introducing it to our clients in the coming year.
We arrived on Monday 10 June into Orlando International Airport eager to see what unique and innovative technologies were being showcased.
InfoComm is the largest audio visual trade show in the United States. With thousands of products ranging from audio, unified communications and collaboration, display, video, control, digital signage, home automation, security, virtual reality and live events. The show provides opportunities to meet over 44,000 AV/IT professionals from over 110 countries.
The Visavvi team spent a huge amount of time networking with our client and partners who were attending. The show brings people together from all corners of the earth allowing us to cement and build strong relationships with customers, integration and supplier partners.
The opening speech was given by Srinivas Rao and focused on developing long term business strategies for the benefit of clients and being innovative and forward thinking in approach. Avoiding the temptation of replicating what has gone before.
“When a business doesn't understand or can't articulate their unique value proposition, they will drown in a sea of noise. The temptation is to look at competitors. But mimicry is a short-term fix that will make your products and services obsolete in the long run”
The speech echoed Visavvi’s long held approach to building long term relationships with all our client, supplier and integrator partners whist delivering Ingenious Business Collaboration solutions. This set the tone for the remaining days as Visavvi colleagues explored new technologies that would allow us to provide solutions to empower our client’s businesses.
There was so much to see across the two days! I have highlighted my personal favourites below:
QSC NV series is the latest networked-based video distribution endpoint. Serving as a multi-stream, software configurable HDMI encoder and decoder. The NV series now supports soft-codec applications like Microsoft Teams and Zoom, the really nice bit about this unit is that it has built-in Q-SYS web conference integration which allows for driverless plug and play USB connectivity for a PC or laptop.
Stem Audio is advancing the industry by introducing completely new technologies never really seen in the traditional conference room audio solutions. Stem have introduced the integration of deep learning in neural networks to improve echo-cancelling, de-reverb, and noise cancelling algorithms.
The Stem ecosystem includes three audio devices: table microphone and speaker, wall microphone and speaker, and ceiling microphone all of which can be mixed and matched and work in tandem with Stem Audio’s Control and Hub in any environment.
This was Stem Audio’s first appearance globally. The ecosystem hardware is available from December 2019 and I think a lot of interest is going to be generated around this solution over the next 6 months.
The reality is, it’s a giant conference room display that will ship initially as 50” displays which will be joined by 85” versions in the near future. Designed for the meeting rooms of the future, where people will interact collaboratively using the screen, rather than passively watching a one-dimensional presentation.
The Surface Hub 2 can be rotated to work horizontally or vertically, providing endless possibilities for content collaboration. The dedicated 4K camera powered by USB-C and mounted by magnets can be detached from the top of the screen and repositioned to the side, adding to the flexibility of this fantastic device.
What’s really cool is that because the Surface Hub 2 is designed to be wheeled around, they have even created a special snapback mechanism for the camera – so if you accidentally crash it into a door whilst moving the unit, the camera won’t be sliced off – brilliant!
